Meet the Management Team

Jeroen Verberg, CEO and Founder

Under Jeroen's leadership, Hippo has grown from a start-up to an international enterprise-class software company, with a successful U.S. market entry. He has built a strong management team and a thriving company culture which emphasizes openness and a non-hierarchical structure.

Arjé Cahn, CTO and Founder

As CTO, Arjé is the technical brain behind Hippo CMS. He has earned his stripes in the open-source world as an elected Member of the Apache Software Foundation in 2007, after becoming an Apache Cocoon Committer in 2005. He was listed as a top 5 CMS executive under 35 by CMSWire and is a frequent speaker at conferences on web experience management and open-source. He supports the growing Dutch tech scene as a mentor at Rockstart.

Tjeerd Brenninkmeijer, CMO and Founder

As CMO, Tjeerd oversees Hippo's marketing strategy, focusing on the lead to revenue process. He is a frequent contributor to industry publications and a speaker at industry events. He also contributes to the tech community as a Startup Bootcamp mentor.

Linda Neijenhuis, Chief of Staff

Linda is responsible for HR and strategic programs spanning multiple disciplines within Hippo, such as customer satisfaction and corporate responsibility. Before joining Hippo as HR-Manager in 2008, she worked for six years in the same role at IKEA and at Elsevier. She started her business career as a recruiter at Randstad. Linda holds a Master in Law from the Radboud University in Nijmegen.

Stefan Schinkel, EVP Sales & Services US

Stefan is responsible for all of Hippo's direct and indirect business activities. He is based in the company’s Boston office. Before joining Hippo in 2010, he worked as VP Strategy & Development at DM Interface, a Dutch direct marketing company. Prior he held various IT-related manager and project manager roles at Accenture’s outsourcing practice, Verizon, Datatrans and at TNT. He holds a Master in Electrical Engineering from the Delft University of Technology.

Robbert Driessen, EVP Finance & Operations

Robbert is in charge of all finance and operations matters at Hippo.  Before joining Hippo in 2007, he worked on four continents as a Project Manager for HPP Worldwide, a leading trade exhibitions organizer over three years and as Operations Manager for NV Zeedijk, a Dutch real estate holding for four years. Robbert studied Economics at the University of Amsterdam.

Stephan Westen, EVP Research & Development

Stephan leads the engineering team and is responsible for all the core software development at Hippo. Prior to joining Hippo in 2009, he was a Senior Development Manager at Informatica, a leading US business intelligence software vendor for six years. Before that he held engineering roles at Dutch software developers Davilex and SIG Software Improvement Group. Stephan holds a Master in Computer Science from the University of Twente.

Gerard Boerrigter, EVP Sales & Services EMEA

Gerard recently joined Hippo and is responsible for all consulting, education and support services. Prior to joining Hippo he was VP Operations and member of the management team at SAS Institute. Before that he overlooked the Professional Services departments at PeopleSoft in his role as Director Services. Gerard holds a Master degree in Economics from the University RUG Groningen.



The Board of Directors

Raj De Datta

De Datta brought 10 years of enterprise and entrepreneurial experience with him when he co-founded BloomReach. Before launching the company, he was entrepreneur-in-residence at Mohr-Davidow Ventures. Prior to that, De Datta served as Cisco’s director of product marketing and was on the founding team of telecom company FirstMark/LambdaNet, which grew to $80 million in run-rate revenue. De Datta also worked in technology investment banking at Lazard Freres. He holds a bachelor of science in electrical engineering from Princeton University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. Jeroen Verberg

Ashutosh Garg

Ashu is a guru of all things search, with years of information-retrieval, machine-learning and search experience. He worked as a staff scientist at Google, where he participated in eight product launches. Before that, Ashu worked at IBM Research. He is a prolific publisher and inventor. Ashu earned a bachelor’s in technology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, and a doctorate in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Ashu has won numerous awards, including best thesis at IIT, an IBM Fellowship and outstanding researcher at the University of Illinois.

Ajay Agarwal

Ajay represents Bain Capital Ventures on the BloomReach Board. Ajay joined Bain in 2003 to focus on early stage mobile, internet, and software investments. Previously, he spent more than seven years at Trilogy Software. As head of sales and marketing, Ajay increased Trilogy’s annual revenue to $300 million. He led product expansion into new areas, such as enterprise pricing and enterprise incentive management. Before Trilogy, Ajay was a consultant with McKinsey & Co. He has a bachelor’s in electrical engineering from Stanford University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Ravi Viswanathan

Ravi helps lead New Enterprise Associates, Inc.’s technology venture growth equity investments. He serves on or has served on a number of boards, including Boulder Wind Power, Braintree, Deeya Energy and Desire2Learn. Before joining NEA, Ravi worked at Goldman, Sachs & Co. and Raychem Corp. He received an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a doctorate in chemical engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Ravi also received a bachelor’s in bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania.

Marcus Ryu

Marcus, who co-founded Guidewire in 2001, is the company’s president and CEO. He successfully led the company through an IPO and has built it into an enterprise that serves insurers in 25 countries. Before Guidewire, Marcus was vice president for strategy at Ariba and an engagement manager at McKinsey & Co. He serves as an independent director of Opower.
He holds bachelor’s from both Princeton University and New College, Oxford University, where he was a Marshall Scholar.

Peter Nieh

Peter is a founder of Lightspeed Venture Partners, covering the areas of cleantech, software and the internet. He has 14 years of venture capital experience and seven years of operating experience. Before Lightspeed, Peter worked in business development and product marketing at General Magic, a startup that developed an early mobile communication device. Peter also managed Acer’s portable PC business in North America, where he launched the company’s first laptops. Before Acer, Peter was a strategy consultant at Bain & Co. He worked at Apple while an undergraduate at Stanford University. Peter holds a bachelor’s in electrical engineering, a bachelor’s in economics and an MBA from Stanford.
