Challenge
HP OpenView (now part of HP Business Technology Optimization) offers a variety
of solutions for monitoring and event management in your organization. With the
growth of corporate IT networks, information collected and presented by these
applications has found a growing audience throughout the organization. Combining
this information in new ways for new audiences was the key challenge HP Openview
Dashboard sought to address.
Solution
By integrating Jetspeed Portal 2 in their OpenView product, HP is able to
provide OpenView Dashboard (previously known as Service Information Portal):
a“360 degree view” on the health of a corporate network, offering a full range
of impact sources such as events and performance parameters as well as
information from service desks, and any HTML and SQL sources. Jetspeed is used
to bring together various OpenView and third party components in a secure
manner. The result is a single, fully configurable screen providing custom
access to real time information organized around various job roles and
responsibilities in the organization.
Results
HP OpenView Dashboard was launched as the successor to the Service Information
Portal in 2005.
Jean-Pierre Garbani, VP with Forrester Research commented on the launch that:
Dashboard will help users incorporate more automation into their daily
monitoring and could speed time to resolution. "This is a dashboard that
represents a certain process, or modeled service, and for each element of the
process it will deliver indicators that can be captured to help determine the
overall performance"
