Challenge
As an online publisher FindLaw’s editorial staff needs to add and update a large number of articles on a daily basis. Consistent classification, a clean easy-to-understand User Interface and powerful search features are critical to warrant accessibility for the website’s audience as well as the editorial staff.
Solution
Thomson Reuters FindLaw implemented Hippo CMS 6 as a web publishing platform and
integrated it with its specialized legal classification engine. Hippo was
selected for its scalability and its user friendly interface. The open, flexible
nature of the product allowed FindLaw to create a tailor made, best of breed
solution. In November 2009 FindLaw started migration to Hippo CMS 7 to take
advantage of the new workflow mechanisms and powerful editor options allowing
editors to easily work with numerous open documents and easily move content back
and forth from standard office applications.
Key functionalities include:
- Workflow and vision control
- Faceted navigation and search built in
- Customizable document editor
- User management based on roles
- Multi site publishing
Result
Hippo CMS has been in use since 2008. The system has managed tremendous growth,
both in terms of the number of pages under management as well as the number and
complexity of the document templates used, mitigating the increasing workload of
the editorial staff.
