INCISIVE / VNU Business Publications

For the V3.co.uk portal and their 13 IT and finance business titles Incisive Media wanted a single publishing platform. Hippo CMS was implemented to handle over 20 million monthly visitors and publish over 500.000 articles.

Challenge

Separate magazines each deploy their own CMS limiting the possibilities of content sharing across Incisive/VNU's portfolio. Editors work for different magazines, but have no central point to find their previous publications.

The fixed link between the navigational structure of the CMS and the resulting website makes it very difficult to deploy several magazines from the same CMS

Solution

Implementation of Hippo CMS behind all magazine websites including Accountancy Age, Forbes.com, Computeractive, IT week etc..; in total 14 websites with more than 1.5 million unique visitors per month:

• Integration with the Quark DMS and Autonomy search engine 
• Importation/conversion of 260.000 existing articles
• Articles from the printed magazines are automatically imported into the CMS

Results

More than 100 editors work on a daily basis with the new system. The total number of pageviews increased to over 50M per month. Magazines are flexible in their design and navigational structure through the use of virtual node structures instead of rigid folders.
