This blog is about *where* to store Metadata for a document in Hippo CMS. It is not so much about what exactly is metadata and what is not. It is not about 'Structural metadata' versus 'Descriptive metadata'. It will be about how to work efficiently (performance/storage) with Hippo CMS and Metadata in Documents. For example how to model Metadata to efficiently query for 'give me all products between date X and Y', or, 'give me all products sorted by color'. If you confine yourself as a developer to the very simple 2 content model rules below, you won't be trapped by having to write complex queries, complex inefficient java classes, impossible faceted navigations or non-performing queries after your repository grows to large document numbers.
