Java web developer

To achieve the growth ambitions of Hippo we are searching for experienced java web developers with a sixth sense for customer satisfaction. As a java web developer you are part of a small but energetic team that will deliver state-of-the-art web solutions and new functionality to our always expanding international client base.

Hippo has a vast number of employees participating in open source projects within the Apache Software Foundation. This role will give you the opportunity to work closely with some open source veterans and to pimp your open source resume.

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • design, built and implement kick-ass websites, intranets and other web solutions.
  • drive innovation by coming up with new and surprising ideas on expanding and improving the existing Hippo products.
  • Liaise with support, project managers to deliver projects on time and of excellent quality.
  • use website analytic software for testing, measurement and optimization.
  • Document best practices and share knowledge with colleagues.
  • Assist clients on questions, change request, bugs and other issues in a timely manner.
  • Analyze and break down problems in smaller pieces
  • Rapidly interpret fuzzy information and pin point root cause problems in complex heterogeneous IT environments
  • Responsible for an overall customer satisfaction.

Qualifications:

  • University degree level
  • Extensive knowledge of Java, Spring, JSP, JSF, Wicket, SpringMVC, or other (Java) frameworks;
  • Familiar with content management systems and portals;
  • Standards like JSR 168,286/170, REST;
  • Application servers like Tomcat, JBoss;
  • Open source projects such as Lucene, Jetspeed Portal, Hippo CMS, Cocoon, Jackrabbit;
  • knowledge of open source libraries en testing frameworks;
  • agile methodologies like XP and Scrum;
  • Web technologies like AJAX, JavaScript;
  • Quality is important to you, so you work precise and use best practices when possible.

  • You are a quick learner with a natural interest in new technologies
  • ability to handle stress
  • sixth sense for customer satisfaction
