Product consultant

To realize the growth ambitions of Hippo we are searching for experienced Product Consultants who can inspire potential costumers with their expertise and enthusiasm. As a Product Consultant you will help our growing customer base, with your broad knowledge of technologies and frameworks, to get the most out of open source solutions, and more specific Hippo's products.

Because of the major impact of Open Standards on Content Management & Portal technology, Hippo is actively involved in the specification of several Java Specification Request (JSR) standards. Hippo has a vast number of employees participating in open source projects within the Apache Software Foundation. This role will give you the opportunity to work closely with some open source veterans and to pimp your open source resume.

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Liaise with clients regarding new projects;
  • advise clients on the use of open source software and standards;
  • help clients with product evaluation and implementation;
  • estimate workload and costs for the potential projects;
  • Prepare and present demos to interested clients;
  • Develop awesome new plug-ins front to back;
  • translate business requirements to technical solutions and document best practices;
  • Provide internal and external training to expand knowledge on Hippo products;
  • blog/ communicate about Hippo product range;
  • Assist external developers with their projects and offer them hands-on help, advice on best practices and execute code reviews.

Qualifications:

  • University degree
  • Extensive knowledge of Java, Spring, JSP, JSF, Wicket, SpringMVC, or other (Java) frameworks;
  • Familiar with content management systems and portals;
  • Standards like JSR 168,286/170, REST;
  • Application servers like Tomcat, JBoss;
  • Open source projects such as Lucene, Jetspeed Portal, Hippo CMS, Cocoon, Jackrabbit;
  • knowledge of open source libraries en testing frameworks;
  • agile methodologies like XP and Scrum;
  • Web technologies like AJAX, JavaScript;
  • You are a business savvy person, with a keen eye for new opportunities;
  • good ability to listen and excellent communication skills,;
  • creative and flexible attitude;
  • quick learner with a natural interest in new technologies;
  • helicopter view;
  • desire and ability to mentor and coach internal and external developers;
