Open source web developer
Hippo is looking for experienced Java programmers with a thorough knowledge of XHTML, CSS, AJAX, XSL and Javascript willing to learn a lot in a short period of time. You'll be implementing the Open Source Hippo CMS at international companies and governmental institutions. You have the oportunity to grow within the organisation and become a senior developer or committer at the open source Apache community.
The level of knowledge within Hippo is high, oriented specifically towards XML and Java. Staff are encouraged to investigate new technologies. In particular, emerging technologies from within the open source community and the W3C are followed closely. Where possible, Hippo participates in open source projects, with the ultimate objective of providing a better solution for the client. Researching and developing new applications before the market is even demanding them, is a challenge we face every day. You'll be working together with developers of the open source Apache community and international partner organisations.
You can expect complex challenges that need to be thought out rapidly in a limited time frame. The tasks include discussions with other programmers, designers, external parties and the customers.
The staff are expected to provide input of their own and are required to put effort into personal development. Job requirements:
- Higher vocational or academic IT studies
- Relevant working experience
Knowledge of, or an exceptional level of interest in the following items is desirable:
- XML, XSL
- Ajax
- Java, JSP, JSF
- Web server administration, particularly Apache
- Servlet engines (Tomcat, WebSphere, WebLogic)
- Apache Cocoon en/of Apache Jackrabbit
- Open source software in het algemeen
