History
Hippo has been developing content management software since 1999. Tjeerd Brenninkmeijer and Jeroen Verberg saw the unique opportunities that Internet technology offered for sharing information and knowledge. At that time, however, there were no user-friendly tools for managing and publishing information on the Internet.
At a time when many Internet sites were still merely static brochures, Hippo started developing the first content management system with an integrated, web-based WYSIWYG editing environment. This made Hippo the CMS pioneer in the Netherlands. Arjé Cahn became a partner in Hippo in 2001. He provided a technological impulse by focusing on XML publishing.
Hippo is currently one of Europe’s leading content management software developers.
